Contaminants for Testing Air Brake Components and Auxiliary Pneumatic Devices - Truck and Bus

2022-11-22
CURRENT
J2024_202211
This SAE Information Report establishes a minimum level of uniform recipes for contaminants which may be used when durability testing pneumatic components to obtain additional information on how a device may perform under more true-to-life operating conditions. This type of contamination testing, however, is not meant to replace the type of performance testing described in SAE J1409 and SAE J1410. Durability testing in the presence of contamination will yield results more reflective of actual in-service field conditions and provide an additional evaluation of pneumatic devices. While the contaminant supply rate and other test criteria of the device being tested must be set by the device manufacturer or user, the items covered in this document will be:

Crane Hoist Line Speed and Power Test Procedure

2022-10-26
WIP
J820
This document applies primarily to mobile cranes that lift loads by means of a drum and hoist line mechanism. It can be used to determine the hoist line speed and power of other hoist line mechanisms, if the load can be held constant and hoist line travel distance is sufficient for the accuracy of the line speed measurements prescribed. This recommended practice applies to all mechanical, hydraulic, and electric powered hoist mechanisms.

Brake Force Distribution Field Test Procedure for Truck and Bus

2022-10-07
CURRENT
J225_202210
This SAE Recommended Practice provides a field test procedure and instructions for air braked single unit trucks, buses, and combination vehicles. Brake force distribution field testing with systems post-reduce stopping distance changes is still appropriate, however, vehicles with electronically controlled braking systems are not covered in this document and may need to be addressed in the future. It also provides recommendations for: a Instrumentation and equipment. b Vehicle preparation. c Test of air-braked single and combination vehicles. d Calculation of brake force distribution. e This test procedure is intended to be used as a field procedure. If a more refined method, utilizing laboratory equipment, is required, refer to SAE J1505.

Self-Propelled Sweepers Sweep-Ability Performance

2022-07-26
CURRENT
J1702_202207
This SAE Standard establishes a method of disclosing the sweep-ability performance of self-propelled sweepers that use broom means for sweeping and collection, together with either a mechanical- or pneumatic-conveyance system for the transfer of “sweepings” into a collection hopper.

Air Filter Element Test Method

2022-07-14
CURRENT
J1533_202207
This SAE test method establishes a uniform test procedure for determining the gravimetric (mass based) efficiency and pressure drop performance levels of operator enclosure panel type filters on off-road, self-propelled work machines used in earth moving, and forestry, as defined in SAE J1116 and for agricultural equipment as defined in ANSI/ASAE S390, and equipped with an operator enclosure with a powered fresh air system. ISO/TS 11155-1 may additionally be used, which describes the use of particle sizing devices to measure the fractional (particle size) efficiency of panel type filters for automotive cabin filter applications. Automotive cabin filters are similar to filters described in this procedure, and the ISO/TS 11155-1 test method is therefore directly applicable.
